SRK is now following the footsteps of Amitabh Bachchan and trying to endorse a state instead of products and services. A few years ago, Narendra Modi decided to bring in Amitabh Bachchan as the brand ambassador for Gujarat and now its turn for Shahrukh Khan to do the same for West Bengal. He has been now appointed as the official brand ambassador for West Bengal. Shahrukh Khan has already been in touch with the people of West Bengal since his IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders have been formed.
As per SRK it was Mamta Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal that approached him when Shahrukh Khan was in Kolkata inaugurating the 17th Kolkata Film Festival. He said that he was spending time with the CM when she decided to break the ice and asked him to be the brand ambassador for the state. Shahrukh Khan has readily accepted the deal and he also tweeted that he enjoys the awesome feeling of love in Kolkata and that it was really kind of Mamta didi and the crowd to take him as the brand ambassador of the state. There is more to come from SRK but at the moment he has just signed the deal.
