These days, with the film industry celebrating successes at the drop of a hat, perhaps it is time to celebrate the success of a film even before they have started shooting it!
According to sources, Hrithik Roshan’s next film Krrish 3 has already struck a Rs 125 crore deal even before the film-makers have started shooting the film! Interestingly, Hrithik’s last filmZindagi Milegi Na Dobara (ZMND) collected as much at the box office.
Of course, this means that Hrithik is a happy man these days, after having to deal with many flops beforeZMND.
Kites, his ambitious home production, co-starring the sexy Barbara Mori, and then Guzaarish, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much hyped film that also starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, had performed miserably, giving Hrithik sleepless nights. In fact, the failure of Kites hit Hrithik really hard because distributors had bought it for Rs 105 crore.
Apart from this, Hrithik had to contend with the competition overtaking him. Even Ajay Devgn did better than him with Singham collecting around Rs 160 crore when it had only cost a mere Rs 20 crore. Producers and distributors started viewing Ajay as a more dependable actor than Hrithik. One more cause for concern for theKrrish actor.
Now, Hrithik is hoping that Shah Rukh Khan’s sci-fi superhero flick Ra.One does well because if it does make the cash registers at the box office ring, that means the value of Krrish 3 will rise further. On the other hand, Hrithik’s other film, Agneepath is still waiting to be sold.
Let’s hope, if 2011 was good for the film industry, where films did more than Rs 100 crore business, 2012 will be even better. If not, it might truly be the end of the world, for Hrithik at least.
